Aye, there's the rub, eh? I've actually had a piece in my drafts folder for about a month. Now, here you come along and challenge me to me to dust it off and finish it. Thanks. Not really. Maybe? I don't know.
The truth is, estate taxes are pretty much universally hated. By everyone who has a significant estate and maybe even more so by those who fantasize about having something to leave behind. And that's probably why they're so important.
Should I manage to actually finish the piece and let it out into the world, I expect it to become the most controversial thing I've ever written. That's almost certainly why I need to finish it and publish it. But I tend to shy away from controversy.
I know I need to finish it. More than likely it'll just grace the pages of Medium for a day or two, generate a few negative comments then sink and disappear into the void. Part of me hopes that's the case. Another part hopes it finds an audience that runs with it.
