I was 28 when when my oldest was born. I knew I would be a father because my wife made it abundantly clear to me that the most important thing in her life was to have children.
It's not nearly as selfish as some people would have you believe. It's actually the most selfless thing one can do. Especially if one is not actually called to it. I sure wasn't. And yet I wound up raising all four of them alone.
I like to think I've been a good parent, but it's not nearly as easy to believe as one might assume. I often hear stories of what has been burned into their memories that I don't recall at all.
I think you'll make a fine dad.
