I absolutely agree with your sentiments. But I think the key word in your response is: expression. So much beauty has been forsaken in the headlong rush towards financial wealth that we’ve lost much of the spirit of WHY we do things.

I love walking through downtown Troy, NY just to gaze up at the architecture. Yes, we can do all this stuff so much easier with the tools we have today. But we don’t. Mostly we create ugly glass encased boxes because all that adornment serves no productive purpose. Art (and music and literature….) brings the human spirit back into the world. But we’re defunding it all at a breakneck speed. That’s the thing that ticks me off.
