I think it might come down to presence. So many relationships are just two people occupying the same space at the same time. How about approaching every relationship as precious time with someone else? And then not being in that same space the rest of the time? Time shared together should be valued, but the time alone should be just as valued. That’s where society misses the boat when it demands that we all be paired up.
