I'm happy when my Medium earnings pay for my Medium membership. Most months that happens, every now and again it doesn't quite do it. Like the story you referenced here, I had one last month that for some reason earned me $20. Yay, four months of Medium membership covered! I've given up caring about the money. I write from the heart. The stories are better that way anyway.
