On one hand, I can’t argue with that Tim. On the other, nobody is living in a world we understand anymore. The octogenarians in Congress are so out of touch with the world that they need to be ousted. They’re living in a world that hasn’t existed in forty years.
I’m a grandparent too. Maybe us 50 somethings should be stepping up to the plate but to be honest, I don’t have the energy. Drastic action is necessary. I’m not up to the task. Personally, I don’t think anyone over 60 should be allowed to make decisions that will affect people long after they’re dead. The older people in this country have proven nothing but their own incompetence at governing.
We’ve been preaching short term ROI so long that nobody seems capable of looking beyond a generation. The Iroquois were advocating for 7 generations of foresight long before the white man ever set foot on this continent. I fail to see how anything that’s been done in the last two centuries is better than that.
I have four kids. They are much less materialistic than anyone of my generation.
I hear a lot of grousing from older people. I don’t see any progressive action. The kids have to live in the world that’s coming. I think they deserve a say.
In fact, I think they have been left a pile of shit that we should be ashamed of. Maybe you know the world better than most, but it’s patently obvious that most of our generation are way too selfish to accept what we’ve done. I don’t believe we’ve found our mistake. The fact that we’ve elected someone who wants to turn the clock back 50 years should make that clearly obvious.
