This is a great piece. A better examination of the situation than I’ve seen almost anywhere.

I think it’s more than just patriarchy and rape culture though. And you hit it on the head in the next paragraph. We’re all suffering from the neo-liberalism (well, except for the patriarchs and rapists) of the last quarter of the 20th century. I think the self-help culture is trying to help us find some way of dealing with it, when probably what we really need to do is to blow it all up.
