This is so great, on so many levels. I guess maybe you have to have had it all to appreciate it. I had the good fortune to have had all of these experiences myself. A twenty year marriage to the love of my life that ended when she died. And deep, life affirming love even after that. Even if it didn’t last, it left me with the knowledge that I have been given so much more than I could ever have hoped for. Maybe it’s the ability to recognize everything, whether it’s life long or only a short burst, as a pure gift that makes the difference. Regardless, I believe we’re destined to love. The duration is irrelevant even if it may be painful in the end. As long as it’s from the heart, love is never wrong.
