This was really good, Julia. Having been the equivalent of Ed in a story similar to this, I wonder how many people are actually capable of being that person for someone else. The truth is, I can’t quite imagine being the Jeannine in this story (or my story for that matter) either. Both characters in this real-life story are heroes of a different sort. Yes, this is what love really looks like, if it happens to last long enough. How many of us would willingly play either part in this story? I’m not sure I would have, given a choice, so many years ago.
